About 1 o'clock p.m. on Friday, the 21st instant, the funeral cortege following the remains of the late Mr.Archibald Mclntyre, of Tidbinbilla, passed through Tharwa en route from his late residence to the Lanyon cemetery. For some hours previously numerous vehicles, together with horsemen, and even persons on foot, went to meet the procession, which, on arrival at Tharwa, was again joined by many who had travelled miles to pay their last tribute of respect to their departed friend and neighbour, Archie Mclntyre. When opposite the school house at Tharwa the children, marshalled by their teacher, trooped out of the school grounds and were placed in the procession just behind the hearse and attended by their tutor, followed the remains to the grave. This incident gave much satisfaction to those in the funeral train, and will not be forgotten for a time. Thence the cortege wended its way over the Tharwa Bridge to the pretty little cemetery at Lanyon, where the interment took place. The service for the dead was read by the Rev. E. S. Henderson, Presbyterian minister at Queanbeyan,who impressively addressed those gathered round the open grave. At the conclusion of the service some very beautiful wreaths were handed in. Then, under the shadow of cypress and pine trees, the mortal remains were consigned to the dust. Outside the cemetery railing (when all was over) could be seen little groups of people who were overheard exchanging expressions of the goodwill and fellowship in which they had held the late sheep overseer of "Tidbinbilla," who for over thirty years had held sway there, and of whose like they one and all declared, as a neighbour, a true friend, and one to run to in case of need, they would not again meet of honest, straightforward "Archie;" as he was most familiarly called Vale! — Com.

9. [S23] TROVE, Goulburn Evening Penny Post (NSW : 1881 - 1940) Mon 8 Oct 1928, MR. JAMES MclNTYRE The death of Mr. James McIntyre, (79), which occurred at Tuggeranong, F.C.T. [?], on Thursday, marks the passing of an old pioneer of the district. Mr. Mclntyre was born at Ginninderra and had lived in that district all his life. When ,Mr. McIntyre was born (in 1849) Ginlninderra was the property of the Palmer family, and was afterwards merged in the Gungahlin estate, and purchased by Edward K. Crace, in 1877. Crace was accidentally drowned in Ginninderra Creek in September, 1892, but his family held the property until resumed by the Commonwealth. Mr. McIntyre worked for many years as a boundary rider for Mr. Andrew Cunningham, of "Lanyon," and on other stations in the district. He was married twice, but both wives predeceased him, and only three children are now living: Mr. George McIntyre (Goulburn), Mr. Augustus McIntyre (Wagga), and Miss Ruby McIntyre.

McINTYRE - The death of Mr. George McIntyre, aged 63 years, occurred at his home in Park Road, East Goulburn, on Saturday night. Mr. McIntyre, whose death was unexpected, was one of East Goulburn's best known citizens and lived in the area for more than 30 years. Born at Queanbeyan, he lived in the Australian Capital Territory before coming to Goulburn. He had been employed by the City Council. Apart from his work, he was interested in East Goulburn's progress and for many years was a member of the committee of the Citizens' Hall. He was also a strong supporter of the Council Employees' Union and of Goulburn Rugby League. Most of his leisure time was taken up with gardening, and a great deal of his garden produce was awarded prizes at Goulburn Shows. He is survived by his wife, three sons, Charles, James and Richard, all of Goulburn, and a daughter, Ivy (Mrs R. Blight, of Marulan). Two sisters, Mrs. Ivy Joyce and Miss Ruby McIntyre, and a brother, Gus McIntyre, all of Sydney, also survive. A funeral service was conducted at his home yesterday afternoon by the Very Rev. Dean King and he was later buried in the Church of England portion of the General Cemetery.
