[S23] TROVE, Launceston Examiner 24 April 1847, FATAL ACCIDENT,-Two Persons Drowned -Mr. Thomas Reid, a son of Mr. Reid residing on the West Tamar, and a probation servant, were accidentally drowned a few days ago. They were bringing a boat load of wheat to the Supply Mills, and when in Spring Bay, a squall from the south ward caught the boat which was very deeply laden, and she swamped and sank. Both parties unfortunately perished, and neither their bodies nor their craft have yet been recovered. Some time since an elder son of Mr. Reid was drowned very near the same spot.

He was well known and esteemed at Westbury. He had had nerve trouble for many years. The funeral will take place on Sunday afternoon at the Methodist Ceme tery at Hagley. The police have been notified.
