Swasbrick, of Gerogery, suffered a sad loss by the death of his eldest daughter, Marion Jean, which occurred at the Convent of Mercy, Wodonga, early yesterday morning, after an illness lasting only a few days. The young girl, who was a resident pupil at the Convent, first became ill on Saturday last, and, despite the unremitting attentions of the medical attendants, the sisters, and a trained nurse, she succumbed yesterday morning. The cause of death was peritonitis. The funeral will take place to-day at the Wodonga Cemetery, the cortege leaving the Convent of Our Lady of Mercy Wodonga, at 2.15 o'clock.

   MITTA MITTA. Tuesday - William Lord, a shareholder in the Long Point Hydraulic gold mine, was accidentally drowned while crossing the Mitta Mitta River late last night. The body has not yet been recovered.

[S23] TROVE, Wodonga and Towong Sentinel (Vic. : 1885 - 1954) Fri 9 Aug 1907, A sad drowning accident occurred at Long Point, about 5 miles above Mitta Mitta Village, on Monday night, the victim being a young man named William Lord, 30 years of age. When returning to his home with Thomas Enever, he led the way across the river, when he and his horse were swept down the stream, and the rider disappeared. His body was recovered on Wednesday about 70 yards from the ford in 15 feet of water. Deceased was a son of the late Mr. William Lord, an old resident of Mitta Mitta, who afterwards went into the hotelkeeping business in Albury. Deceased leaves a widow and three young children to mourn his sudden and untimely end.
