He got a machine gun bullet through the head. It was hell on earth. I don't want to see any more of it. Don't worry about us. Jim died a hero fighting to defend you. You have no idea how the Germans treat the girls over here."

In the person of Mr. Abraham Morey, who died in the Fairfield Hospital, Hobart, on Saturday morning last, passed away a colonist of over 50 years' standing. The deceased was born in England, and, when yet a boy, came to Tasmania with his father, Abraham Morey, and settled in the Evandale district. There he continued to reside until some nine years ago, when he removed to his farm, ''Oakhampton," near Triabunna. Two years ago Mr. Morey's health gave way, and since then he ailed intermittently, so that his death on Saturday last was not unexpected. He was in his 65th year at the time of his demise. At 10.30 a.m. on Monday his remains were interred at the Cornelian Bay Cemetery, when Rev. J. S. Babington, of St. John's, New Town, was the officiating clergyman. The deceased leaves a widow and 13 children, including seven sons, most of whom are grown up.
