A wedding in which there was much local interest took place in the Union Church, Mitta Mitta, on Wednesday, 27th ult., when Mr William Courtney, farmer of Eskdale, was married to Miss Eliza Jane Cardwell, third daughter of Mr John Cardwell, of "Lagoon View," Mitta Mitta. The church was crowded. The ceremony was performed by Rev. E. B. Bond (Methodist), of Wodonga. The bride, who was tastefully gowned, was given away by her father; her bridesmaid was her sister, Miss Tilly Cardwell. The offices of best man were performed by Mr Joshua Courtney, brother of the bridegroom. After the ceremony, a large number of guests from all over the district partook of the wedding breakfast, which was served at the home of the bride's parents, and at which the orthodox toasts and sentiments were duly honored. After the breakfast, Mr and Mrs Courtney drove to Tallangatta, en route to Melbourne, on a honeymoon trip. On the Sunday night prior to the wedding Miss Cardwell, who was a leading teacher in the Union Sunday School, was presented with a silver sugar scuttle. The presentation was made at the close of the service by Mr Ashley, on behalf of the Sunday scholars.- "Herald."

She was given away by her brother (Mr William Courtney) The bridesmaids were Miss Ada Knight, of Castlemaine, who was attired in a beautiful cream dress, trimmed with insertion and pink ribbon, with hat to match, and Misses Meta Courtney and Jean Swasbrick, nieces of the bride, gowned in muslin dresses trimmed with insertion and blue ribbon. Mr George Hunter, friend of the bridegroom, acted as best man, and Mr Joshua Courtney; brother of the bride, was groomsman. The wedding ceremony was performed by the Rev. R. M. Jennings, of Wodonga. The bride and bridegroom left in the afternoon to spend their honeymoon in Melbourne.
